June 2007

Just prior to Thomas’ birthday we were finally able to have our meeting with the Quincy Public School preschool team. The good news is that we got pretty much everything we were hoping for. He will be starting summer preschool on Monday, July 2nd four days a week — four hours a day. And in the fall he’ll be going full days with an hour of speech therapy a week plus intergrated ABA, music and OT services as well. We are still looking into setting him up with additional services outside school — particularly additional speech and OT, but the agency we were working with is being very slow in getting back to me so we might look elsewhere. In other news he had his three year check-up and he is right in the middle of the chart for his height and weight. Plus, his doctor commented that she could definitely see the improvement he’s made in the last six months. (He’s finally started saying his name this last week)

I think my interview went rather well today. They have received a lot of applications, so we’ll have to see how the rest of the field shakes out. They aren’t doing any interviews next week due to the holiday, so it’ll be at least two weeks before I know anything more.

My interview for the records archivist position at Tufts is scheduled for Friday morning. I’m trying not to get my hopes up since they have received a ton on applications. Plus, it’ll be several weeks before a decision is made (they are doing interviews this week and then people are out for the holiday next week and they will pick up interviewing again the week after that.) Positive thoughts greatly appreciated!

I’ve come down with a bit of a summer cold, so I haven’t had much energy to devote to figuring out how to include pictures in this blog. I seem to have uploaded them to the site, but they are not attaching properly to the posts. However, I will keep plugging away at it and I hope to have some birthday pictures up soon.

This blog is designed to keep family and friends up to date on the lives of Erik, Veronica and Thomas. Our big news today is that Thomas is 3! We started off his birthday yesterday by registering him for summer preschool (more on that in a later post) and then went to Franklin Park Zoo. We followed that up with a trip to an ice cream parlor. We finished the day with presents, pizza and a special Blue cake.
